During a two-week period in April, vocational professionals from three countries came to JKHK to teach or job shadow.
This is what the Norwegian vocational teachers thought from their experience:
It was very exciting to experience an Estonian vocational upper secondary school and to learn both about how your school was organized as well as the Estonian educational system in general.
Particularly interesting was the tour of the campus. It was interesting to see the impressive and well-equipped workshops at the various departments. We were left with the impression that Estonian students are taught in a professional and modern environment where they learn the necessary skills for their future vocation.
As with any country’s educational system, we learned that Estonia too has challenges that teachers have to face and overcome daily. It was impressive to see how Estonian teachers are both creative and solution-oriented in an occupation with a high workload. The school and its teachers seem to create a good balance between practical work in workshops and classroom activities in common subjects, using both digital resources as well as more traditional teaching methods.
By visiting and learning about your school, we gained new perspectives and we will go back to our school with fresh eyes and new ideas, especially on how to use digital platforms in creative ways.

Latvian colleagues summarized their trip as follows:
An inspiring experience in Estonia!
This week, our team took part in a job shadowing visit to Järvamaa Kutsehariduskeskus in Estonia. We explored modern approaches to academic management and supervision, learned about the use of road construction simulators (Tenstar) in practical training, and gained insights into how cooperation with companies is organized and internships are managed.
We gathered valuable ideas on strengthening Green Deal principles in road construction vocational education and discussed future cooperation opportunities in the use of drone technologies and sustainable road building.
Together with colleagues from Aizkraukle Vocational Secondary School and the host Järva Vocational Education Centre, we discussed possibilities for teacher exchange programs, sending experts on mobilities, and welcoming incoming participants to our school.
We aim to expand collaboration in our common fields and develop strategic projects to promote sustainable development in vocational education.
Thank you for the warm hospitality and the inspiration to continue developing our educational environment!
